Wibax specialises in the sale, purchase, processing and delivery of liquid chemicals and bio-oils. The company strongly bases its operations on sustainability and aims to electrify its entire vehicle fleet by 2030. Wennstrom carried out a complex relocation and upgrade of the electric charging point for tanker trucks at Wibax\u2019s depot in Hamina.<\/p>\n

Goal: fully electrify the vehicle fleet by 2030<\/h2>\n

Wibax sells, purchases, processes and delivers liquid chemical products and bio-oils, primarily to the Nordic basic industry. The company also develops new products and applications together with its customers.<\/p>\n

Wibax Logistics manages the group\u2019s logistics and also provides external logistics solutions. In addition to Finland, services are offered to customers in Sweden and Estonia.<\/p>\n

Wibax has collaborated with Wennstrom for several years in both Finland and Sweden. In Finland, previous cooperation has mainly focused on the commissioning and troubleshooting of electric chargers, but at the beginning of 2026 a need emerged to renew and relocate the charging point for tanker trucks at Wibax\u2019s depot in Hamina.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom an operational standpoint, it is efficient to charge electric trucks at the same time as they are being loaded. We received the charging point modification we needed from Wennstrom as an easy and cost-effective turnkey solution,\u201d says Marko Kallio, Manager responsible for Terminal Technology and Projects at Wibax Logistics Oy.<\/p>\n

Charger relocation, doubled charging points and 120+ metres of cable<\/h2>\n

The relocation of the tanker truck charging point at Wibax\u2019s Hamina depot included several special features that made the project more challenging than average. The original charging location was not at ground level but several metres higher on the second floor. The charger was moved approximately 20 metres to a more practical location.<\/p>\n

In addition, a new satellite unit was installed to complement the existing charger. This installation required a long cable run between locations \u2013 approximately 120 metres in total.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was admittedly a somewhat unusual case. The solution required some careful consideration together with the customer, but the communication worked extremely well,\u201d says Jani Lehto, Sales Manager for eMobility at Wennstrom.<\/p>\n

An important factor in the project was ensuring that the equipment would not be out of service for long during the modifications. Due to the long distance, data transmission was implemented via fibre optics instead of a CAT connection, and fibre converters were also added.
\n\u201cI\u2019m not certain, but this may be the first solution of its kind in Finland,\u201d Jani notes.<\/p>\n

A positive surprise: the new setup enabled full charging capacity<\/h2>\n

Thanks to the new arrangement, the original charger has been relocated to a more practical position, and with the newly installed satellite unit, Wibax now has access to an additional charging point. The upgrades improve and streamline vehicle loading and charging operations at the depot.<\/p>\n

In addition, the project delivered a significant added benefit that even surprised the customer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work actually went better than we expected: together with the equipment supplier, Wennstrom found a solution that removed previous charging limitations. We can now charge trucks at the full power allowed by the charger,\u201d Marko Kallio says.<\/p>\n

Overall, the improved charging setup benefits not only Wibax\u2019s internal operations but also its customer service. For Wibax\u2019s customers, the priority is to receive agreed product deliveries quickly and efficiently.<\/p>\n
