Tide Buss chooses Wennstrøm for electrification in Vestfold

The electrification of public transport places high demands on operational reliability, uptime, and long-term infrastructure. In Vestfold, Tide Buss, Norway’s second-largest bus company, has chosen Wennstrom as its partner for establishing future-proof charging infrastructure for electric buses.

The project marks an important step toward a fully electric public transport network in the region and is a clear example of how strong partnerships, the right expertise, and robust solutions help drive the green transition.

Comprehensive charging infrastructure

The delivery includes establishing charging infrastructure at 13 locations in Vestfold, with around 250 charging points. The solution will support the operation of 235 electric buses from the summer of 2026.

Wennstrom provides a complete solution covering the entire value chain—from planning and installation to documentation, service, and maintenance throughout the lifetime of the facility. The charging infrastructure is based on modular DC solutions from Kempower, offering high flexibility, efficient use of space, and scalability in line with increasing demand.

Stability and operational reliability are crucial

For public transport, stability and operational reliability are essential. High uptime, fast response times, and predictable operations are critical factors in daily service—for both operators and passengers.

That is why Wennstrom has built a nationwide service team, dedicated monitoring systems, and a specialized spare parts warehouse for critical components. This ensures rapid issue resolution, reduces the risk of operational interruptions, and provides confidence throughout the lifecycle of the charging infrastructure.

The solution in Vestfold is also prepared for further development, including the integration of energy storage systems (BESS). This provides increased flexibility, improved power management, and enhanced readiness.

Partnerships that create long‑lasting solutions

For Wennstrom, partnership is a central part of how the company works. Close collaboration, shared understanding of needs, and long-term responsibility are key to succeeding with complex electrification projects over time.

“We are pleased to contribute with an operationally stable solution that supports an important development in public transport in Vestfold. It is crucial for us that the infrastructure can evolve in line with new needs and more electric buses in service,” says Per Ivar Lindum, Senior Advisor at Wennstrom.

The collaboration with Tide Buss demonstrates how technical expertise, structured execution, and a long-term operational perspective can lay the foundation for safe and future‑oriented public transport.

A concrete contribution to zero‑emission mobility

The electrification project in Vestfold is an important contribution on the path toward fossil‑free public transport. With robust, scalable solutions and a focus on quality at every stage, Wennstrom supports Tide’s ambition to reduce emissions and ensure an attractive public transport offering in the years ahead.

This is not just an investment in charging infrastructure — it is an important step toward the zero‑emission mobility of the future.
