Wennstrom Sweden has been commissioned to provide a number of depots in Gothenburg and Stockholm with charging infrastructure in 2022, to support a total of 60 new electric buses that will be put into service before the end of the year.
As a step in achieving the goal of electrifying all of Gothenburg’s city traffic by 2030, Västtrafik follows through on its ambition to only use electric buses to build sustainable and attractive cities. Keolis Sweden, part of one of the world’s largest operators of public transport, will operate the traffic in central Gothenburg. The traffic commitment extends to 2032 and is part of Keoli’s investment in increased electrified public transport. Wennstrom Sweden has been commissioned to provide a number of depots with charging infrastructure in 2022 to support a total of 60 new electric buses that will be put into service before the end of the year.
Traffic in Stockholm’s city centre is also covered by the agreement and a further 15 electric buses will soon depart from the newly built depot in Tomteboda. Andreas Holmgren, Project Manager e-mobility at Wennstrom, says that the task includes everything from cabling and installation of charging stations to commissioning and subsequent technical support. To charge the buses, about 70 chargers from Finnish Kempower Oy have been purchased.
